Gooooooo Jonny!

What a busy few weeks it has been. I am sorry that I have not been updating my blog as much because Mummy and Daddy decided to take me away for a couple of weeks. Some of the trip was a big surprise so to you Aunty Poppy and the Hampson posse 'We hope you have recovered!' Daddy had to have lots of meetings, in Paris, London and a very interesting place called Riga, which for you geography nuts is in Latvia! So to sum up my last two weeks here are the highlights:

  • Aunty Kylie and Uncle Tom visiting us in Seoul! This was every exciting and I was extra smiley for them. They even dressed me and changed in preparation for when they have their baby in June. I was very good for them and lulled Uncle Tom into a false sense of competency, just they wait!
  • Staying awake for the whole flight to Paris and then back again to Seoul! I had too many people to entertain and chat with to sleep!
  • I have also discovered my hands in a big way. I have two main positions. The first one Mummy says I can look a bit like Jonny Wilkinson lining up to take a kick. I hold my hands together and really concentrate and lean forward. The second is I count my fingers. I touch each finger every gently with my other hand. Other than that I just grab and suck my toys, they are surpriseingly tasty!
  • Collecting a pool of drool in my chin for later!
  • Surprising Aunty Poppy by arriving on her doorstep unexpectedly. She thought I had been abandoned, I thought I had too, the doorstep is not as comfortable as my stroller, thanks Mummy and Daddy!
  • Our surprise visit to see William in Brighton. His mummy was too sharp and she knew something was up but we managed to pull the wool over William's eyes. He didn't know a thing!
  • Meeting Goddaddy Will. Of course we met in the pub but it was during the day so please don't call social services! He was lots of fun and we shared a pint of.....
  • Finding my voice on the Eurostar to London. I chatted the whole way without taking a break.
  • Playing in the snow in Latvia, Lots of snow as far as the eye could see and very cold.
  • Exploring Riga. This could be my next new home. I know.... don't ask, I have learnt very quickly that Mummy and Daddy think they know what they are doing and when the time comes we can all roll our eyes at them and say 'I told you so!'
  • Standing up. This is my new discovery. I have decided that I don't want to roll or move on the floor yet but standing up is more fun, with a little bit of help.
  • Staying with Aunty Kylie and Uncle Tom. I got extra cuddles and smooches.
  • Having lots of baths. I love baths so much. I float on my back and smack my hands and feet in the water, often covering Daddy and the floor outside the bath. I gurgle and laugh at myself and basically show off my expertise in the water. I also love pushing off from the side and standing up in the water. Baths are the best time of the day.

Also FYI I am not bald. I have very light coloured hair that is only noticeable close up! I may not be rivalling cousin Hal but mine is there.

Godmummy Penny is visiting today. I was so excited that I couldn't sleep last night. Mummy, Daddy and I hung out from 1230am till 8am when I finally went to sleep. They were blaming something called 'jet lag' but I was just so excited. It is quite fun being up in the middle of the night, I may even try it tonight though it does make Mummy and Daddy look rather rough, they really should keep themselves together!

Practising in my wetsuit ready for my first swim the next day

The start of the year

I went for my first dip in the local swimming pool on Sunday. It was quite a funny experience. It started in the changing room where Mummy lay me down to change me into my 'baby wetsuit' and was instantly surrounded by all these older Korean ladies. They squatted beside me and kept me company while Mummy went about taking ALL my layers off. They were very friendly and I don't think that Mummy had to rugby tackle them away, which is what she feels like doing occasionally when they tell her how to look after me! As soon as we arrived at the baby pool and Mummy started taking me into the water all of the Koreans in the BIG pool stopped swimming and lined the side of the pool and watched me. I felt very important and just between you and me I began showing off just how good I was in the water, floating around, bobbing up and down and right at the end I must have done something to bother Mummy 'cause she dunked me under! The cheek of it! I was very brave ( because everyone was watching me) and I didn't even cry. She didn't give me much time to take a drink either so next time I'll have to be a bit quicker... Mummy and Daddy were very proud of me but really there isn't much to it. I think I will be an Olympic swimmer for Korea when I grow up.

Mummy and Daddy took me out to celebrate the end of the year. We went up to a nice hotel with an outside ice skating rink and met some of their friends. It was very crowded and some silly woman bumped into me and woke me up. It was a little chilly outside, -10 so we decided to go home early so Mummy and Daddy could play scrabble. They tell me that they like to party but I think they exaggerate a lot, nowadays nothing makes them happier than to play scrabble with me.

Ive got some more visitors coming this weekend, Auntie Kylie and Uncle Tom. I cant wait to give them some practise. I'm going to save all my tricks up for them, he he, that will keep them on their toes.

Thank you everyone for my lovely Christmas presents. Mummy and Daddy wouldn't let me open them but I'm sure that was for a 'good reason!'. Next year please write on the outside of the parcel, 'Only for Jasper to open, not for mummies or daddies who like to spoil little boy's fun!'

Until next week.... Ka kite
